Hammer and Ice
Seriously, Did we really dress like this in the 90's!
So it was kinda a good concert. Not the best I've ever been to. It was funny to watch Hammer dance. He isn't quite what he used to be way back when. Now he dances a minute and needs a breather. lol Gotta love it.
There were to many people there dressed in florescent clothing and crazy hammer pants dancing around the main floor and a few Madonna wannabes. What a flashback into the past!

Singles Awareness Week
blah! The week where they actually make you have a date to go to a stake singles valentines dance. If I had a date would I honestly go to the dance on Valentines day. Answer: NO I spent it home sick and enjoying how the apartment was decorated. So fun!

Singled Out!
All I have to say is FHE is a ton of fun. This weeks FHE was an interesting one to say the least. Once a month (i think) we have a stake combined FHE and apparently they plan some rather interesting things for those particular get togethers. They didn't divulge too many details at church on Sunday from what I hear so not many really knew what to expect except the fact that dessert was involved. You walk in the door (mind you only one door in the church would open for this because they wanted to make sure everyone got to participate in the activities) and you got to put your name on a nice big name tag and after that another name tag was slapped on your back and you have no idea what is written on it. For all you know you could have a "kick me" sign on your back at that moment. Then the rules of the game are presented to you. Figure out what is on the tag they just slapped on your back by asking other people 'yes' or 'no' questions and once you figure that out go around looking at all the backs of the person of the opposite sex to find your opposite. So if you had 'wet' you had to find 'dry'. Only once you have found your mate can you go and make your dessert of a hot brownie and ice cream with all the toppings you can imagine. What a pain to find your mate! It took a while to figure out what you were. My friends and I opted for the yes or no to letters of the alphabet to spell out our words. Fortunate for me my word (low.... yes I had to find a guy who was high in the church... how hard is that!) was very short.
After that little activity it was time for the 'game show'. Now the raffle tickets they handed us at the door came into play. Welcome to the game of "Singled Out!". Oh joy! Guys up first to get a date with one of the many single girls in the crowd! the guy whos ticket was called got to go up on the stage and not face the crowd of girls standing behind him and he had to narrow down his search for a date. They had categories on the screen to help with the task. One such category was called "ding dong" Yes this is in reference to the doorstep because the options under it were 'Russian' Lips or Patience Peacock. Take a guess on what that meant. After checking if President Plum was not present the option was voiced and all those who didn't match the choice of the guy had to sit down. After the categories had narrowed the crowd to about half a dozen girls then those girls left up would go up to the front for the final race to get a date.... We had to answer worse case scenario questions and match what the guy said (ie: would you rather have hundreds of tiny teeth in your mouth or just one big tooth?) Correct answers moved you forward a space. There was a lot of excitement with this game. Oh the anticipation for getting a free date that the singles stake paid for! Who could ask for more?! And guess what.... I won a date! Yup...it's the only way i can get a date with a nice lds guy is to play a game at FHE. They paid for us to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum!
Update: The date went okay. Very nice guy. He will make a good friend....not a boyfriend for all those who think I need a boyfriend he isn't the one. The food was good and so was the conversation. Yippie for me winning a date!

A good Day.... for a little while
Ever since Jessie died I find that there are times I need a break from the world and some me time. Goodness knows if I can't have a little time to myself to just let go and deal with everything I will likely explode. Sometimes it's just too hard.
This weekend was a big help for me. Lisa was away having mother daughter weekend time. She nicely invited me to go there on Saturday night for an American idol slumber party but I knew if I went I would never wake up and go to church like I really wanted to today. I felt like church was more important for me to attend today for some reason. Let me tell you, I loved every minute of it. I was truly happy and felt so much peace there and I needed it soooooooooo much. I miss those feelings and I know that is where Jessie would want me to be. I am trying so hard to live better just like Jessie did. If I am going to be as good a person as he was I need to try and do everything in my power in this life. I miss him and I can't afford to slip up and never see him again. I have to do the small things and that will make the biggest impact.
I went to a CES fireside this evening. It was wonderful. President Monson was the speaker. You know how you feel like he is speaking right at you.... I know he was. Granted others probably won't get the same message that I got from his talk. I came home quite happy after that. It was so nice to feel happy for a little while. I wish I could feel that every single day.
I am so lucky to have a knowledge of the gospel. I know I would be completely lost without it.
A little poem from Monson's Talk:
Stick to your task till it sticks to you;
Beginners are many, but enders are few.
Honour, power, place, and praise
Will come, in time, to the one who stays.
Stick to your task till it sticks to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life's victories, after awhile.

My First Christmas in Heaven
My First Christmas in Heaven I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below, with tiny lights, like heaven’s stars, reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tears, for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, but the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here. I have no words to tell you, the joy the voices bring, for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heard, but I am not so far away, we really aren’t apart. So be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear, and be glad I’m spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above. I send you each a memory of my undying love. After all, “LOVE” is a gift more precious than pure gold, it was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do, for I can’t count the blessings of love He has for each of you. So have a Merry Christmas and whip away that tear. Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
This poem was sent to my family in a christmas card this year from a good friend of the family. It's perfect for Jessie

Christmas at the Salt Lake Temple
Lisa and I decided to pay a visit to Temple Square and take in the beautiful lights before I left for Oregon. We headed out of the apartment around 6pm to catch the train up there. May I just say there are the strangest people in the world that ride on Trax. We were sitting there being good girls and doing our people watching, mostly being irritated by a small group of teenagers that most would consider loud and would be willing to kick them a little. It was interesting to take in their lifestyle from more adult eyes....and then the laugh happened. Oh my goodness!!!! this girl had the most interesting laugh in the world. At first we coudln't place what it sounded like....after a few moments of laughing at the strange sounding laugh.... it hit us! She sounded like a Dodo Bird when she laughed. You wouldn't believe it....even we couldn't believe it was possible to laugh in such a manner. (Don't ask us to mimic it because we have tried with no success) LOL.
Now onto the temple......I will say it was as beautiful as ever. It was like a trip around the world for a small part of it. They had a few international manger scenes that we of course took pictures of. There were also little lights in the bags along the pathway. Each one said Merry Christmas in a different language. My favorite part was the floating manger scene on the Reflection Pond. It was a beautiful white statue and the pond had many floating candles surrounding it. If you get a chance this season everyone should go up there and see it.
